CONQUERING DRESSAGE (WELL TRYING TO)

2/12/2015

So this weekend I continued my plight in the dressage arena with my esteemed dressage crew.  We went in force this weekend with my sharer enduring her first dressage event and my forcing the rest of the team in to submission - might I add only to be beaten by my buddy - having tried to beat her three times on three different horses in the same test, alas, to no avail :( She did in fact manage to kick my ass on her one ponio of the day (having left her remaining herd at home).

So, despite riding the test on 3 different ponies (yes, seriously- not that I am getting desperate or anything), I did eventually manage a test score of 66%, which in my non-dressage world is quite an exciting feat.  It has indeed opened my brain to trying a Novice test (I know a bit keen when getting 66 in prelim, but hey ho, we only live once!) and finally considering entering some One Day Events next season which has been my ultimate aim all along and the only reason for endless dressage prep.

In other news, the puppy has now openly showed her lack of care for my amazing training skills by vomiting in the back of my car and chewing my riding boots, bless her, NOT.  Must keep up the training, but god its tricky.  I used to take the piss out of people endlessly shouting across the Epsom Downs "Fido, Fido, Fido, come Fido, here boy, over here, come Fido" and think what idiots, can they not train their dog!? When I have since found myself endlessly shouting Bella across the yard to which she takes one look at me and proceeds at speed in the opposite direction.  Jesus, what am I doing wrong here, the dog thinks I am imbecile already.  No wonder my horse can't suss an extended walk from an extended trot.

Anywho, our merry bunch are off to Tweseldown XC Schooling on Saturday and I can't wait, jumping all day, finally, something I absolutely love.  Gallavanting across their sandy tracks whilst commenting on some of the horrific fences they have at the same time wishing I was drunk enough to get over them - ahhhh - my favourite.  Roll on the weekend!!!!
